No. However for customers within about 30 mile radius we can recommend several suitable contractors. Please ask.

Do you guarantee your plants?

We guarantee that plants supplied are healthy, fit for purpose and true to name. However we cannot be responsible for plants failing due to factors beyond our control. See Plant Replacement policy for full details

Can you give us advice?

We are always happy to give general advice. We have a wealth of experience which we are happy to share. Please ask.

What is the best time of year to plant?

In general the best time to plant is in the autumn or spring. For bareroot and rootballed plants, the planting season runs from mid November to late March when plants are dormant. Container grown plants can be planted at any time of year but it is best to avoid planting during the height of summer when the plants are actively growing and will require plenty of watering.

What plants can you suggest for screening?

We have many evergreen plants suitable for screening (e.g. Bay, Photinea, Laurel, conifers, evergreen oak etc) and at tall heights for instant effect. See our catalogue for further information.

Do smaller plants establish better than larger ones?

There is some truth in this but for properly grown plants, larger plants have a proportionally larger root system and this is the important point. For container plants the same applies, larger plants have a larger root system.

Will the tree need staking?

Trees above 6ft will probably require staking. The important point is to stop the plant rocking as this will break off the small fibrous roots as the tree gets established.

What are your opening hours?

Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm
Saturday 8.00am to 4.30pm
Sundays Closed
Bank Holidays: Closed, except Good Friday

Bare-root plants are only available from mid November to mid April during the hours above, except Saturdays when this part of the nursery closes at midday.

How soon should I plant trees once you have delivered them?

Bareroot plants should be planted within 7 to 10 days and can be left in he bags for this time until planted. If it is not possible to plant within this period the plants should be taken out of their bags and “heeled in”.

Container plants can be left for months during the winter although are best planted within a couple of weeks during the summer, making sure that the root system does not dry out.
