Bareroot plants are supplied with their roots wrapped in special co-extruded plant bags to keep them in optimum condition until planted. They should be planted within 10 days or so of delivery to prevent the roots from drying out. They can be stored either in the open or under cover until required for planting. Protect from frost if possible although the plants should not be damaged by frost. However if the plants are frozen the roots will be brittle so do not attempt to plant them or move them until thawed out. If planting in the Spring it is a good idea to give the plants a good soak after planting. Further watering during the summer will sometimes be necessary to prevent the ground from completely drying out - but do not water excessively. Applying a surface mulch will help prevent the ground from drying out and will also help to suppress weeds.
