Job Title: Sales / Nursery Assistant

Reporting to: Sales Director

Salary: £26-30K according to experience

Job Purpose: This role involves working in a small team of 5 people focussing primarily on the sales aspects of our business, meeting and greeting, telephone sales as well as processing quotations and orders. However, you will also undertake work as necessary outside on the nursery during the low sales season (April-September).  This is an opportunity to join our 13 staff in a small, successful company, predominantly in a sales role but also helping with general nursery tasks such as watering, pruning, feeding etc.

Required Skills: We are seeking a person with an interest in trees and shrubs and general horticulture/gardening. Happy to work indoors or outside. Relevant experience / qualifications are preferred but not necessary. Someone who would like to train in horticulture would be considered. We are looking for a practical, flexible team member that wants to learn. The following skills are preferred:

  • Some level of plant knowledge, preferably including trees.
  • Good communication and inter-personal skills – customer friendly
  • Computer use is required for which training will be provided.
  • Applicants must be physically fit and happy to do work on the nursery
  • Need to be able to fit in with and work with others as part of a small team

Hours of work: Hours are likely to average around 40 hours per week and will include working on Saturdays with a week day off.

Holidays: The company offers a minimum of 23 days holiday per year (pro rata) plus bank holidays, to be taken outside peak periods of spring and autumn

Pension: The company operates a contributory pension scheme to which employees are auto-enrolled in accordance with current government requirements.

Job Title: Specimen Tree and Shrub Nursery Worker  

Reporting to: Warehouse Supervisor  

Salary: Depending on experience

Job Purpose: This role involves working as a part of a small team with the main role ensuring the safe receipt, unloading, storage and despatch of all plants including bareroot trees and sundries. Your main job in the winter will be to pick and pack bare root in the cold store. This is an opportunity to join our 14 staff in a small, successful company.

Required Skills

  • Applicants must be physically fit and happy to work outdoors.
  • Need to be able to fit in with and work with others as part of a small team
  • Have basic plant knowledge.
  • Fork lift licence would be desirable
  • Must be numeric

Hours of work: Hours are likely to average around 40 hours per week but can there can be some flexibility outside of peak periods spring and autumn.

Holidays: The company offers a minimum of 23 days holiday per year (pro rata) plus bank holidays, to be taken outside peak periods of spring and autumn
