Last chance for bare root and rootball planting. English Woodlands can deliver across the UK!

Spring is here, but you still have just a few short weeks during which you can plant bareroot and rootballed stock of trees and shrubs, depending on stock levels and weather-dependent too.  Don't delay! English Woodlands still has stock and we can deliver across the whole of the UK.

Bareroot trees and shrubs

Why are bare-rooted plants so revered?

There are many reasons, but price is one of the major factors.

These plants require fewer production resources - they are generally grown in the open ground, then dug up during the dormant season between November and April. They can be lifted, stored, transported and replanted without causing any damage or shock to the roots.

Easier to store and deliver throughout the UK. There is no soil or pot encasing the roots and the weight is significantly less than containerised plants.

English Woodlands nursery is able to supply bareroot plants in large quantities because they take up only a little space.

The size of the root mass is generally larger than those plants grown in a container. This means that they are quick to establish and the plants can access nutrients and minerals easily, once planted and growing.

Ease of planting! They are lightweight and can easily be planted by one person. The ground during the dormant season is generally damp, therefore it is rare that they need continuous watering whilst they establish.

Long-term performance tends to be better than that of more mature stock.  Bare root hedges and trees tend to establish quickly  - it's a really efficient method of achieving a healthy hedge or tree, at comparatively low cost!
